Why SOL?
SOL exists under the banner of an ornithological organization. I did this partly for fun and partly to observe the audience’s reaction to two vastly different topics in one space. SOL provides unique, under emphasized training to small groups of adventurous humans. I have a passion to train people with a heightened mind for teamwork and leadership development, personal awareness, and problem solving. The course catalog is small, yet critical. The courses offered are mostly scenario based, this is important to me to add context and to emphasize the practical applications of the unique skills taught. These courses emphasize leadership, teamwork, and resilience under austere, demanding conditions.
We reinforce the values emphasized across all courses: responsibility, accountability, and selflessness. We are not political activists, we do, however, espouse individual liberty, laissez faire attitudes, and service to community and organization by strengthening the individual. SOL believes in the tenets of Classical Liberalism and to a large degree, modern libertarianism. SOL draws its values from the principles of Christianity and the philosophy of Objectivism. We are always happy to debate these principles.
SOL courses are resource intensive and complex to orchestrate. The success of these courses allows us to enhance the team and individual experience, to offer pro bono training to select individuals and groups, and to provide resources to support various charity projects. The courses offered are specialized to the point that we feel compelled to vet all participants, and limit access to certain courses.
Why SOL? I introduced SOL as a venue for unique, authentic training. By virtue of careful vetting, it is also a venue to encourage open and free debate on current events, political, cultural, business, and religious issues. This is not meant to be a homogenous group of straight, white, Christian men. We welcome anyone who has genuine respect for individual liberty and personal accountability. We all have the right to believe as we choose, none has the right to impose that belief on others! We can all agree that teamwork, leadership, and individual preparedness are important. Come train with us, you will learn new skills, and a little about yourself.

The Founder
Robert "Edgar" Mills
Founder of Osprey Shooting Solutions and Southern Ornithological League. Edgar is a 25-year veteran of the US Army, 16 of those years with Special Forces. He has a passion for developing other's capacity for leadership and teamwork because of a genuine desire to see others succeed in their own endeavors. He and the SOL team take immense pride in bringing unique, relevant training to clients across a broad spectrum of career fields.
